Football is the most popular sports in the whole world. China has been a country with a population that does not seem to care much about this wonderful sport, but things have changed in the last couple of years.
Shanghai has two football teams: Shanghai Shenhua and Shanghai SIPG SH.
Shanghai Shenhua
The most famous Shanghai team is called Shanghai Shenhua and plays in the Chinese Super League.

Their stadium is called Hongkou Football Stadium and has a maximum capacity of 33,000. Shenhua is a classic example of a club who pays out a lot of money on big international stars such as Demba Ba, Tim Cahill and Giovanni Moreno.

The less famous team Shanghai SIPG are playing at one of the most famous stadiums in China –
Shanghai SIPG.
Shanghai Stadium. The Head Coach for this team is the former England coach Sven Göran Eriksson, which has had a very successfull period in China.
Xu, the owner of Shanghai SIPG, has this ambition of creating “China´s Manchester United” – and the shirts are very much inspired of his mindset.
